Current Exhibitions Tokyo, Japan Pen & Art When: October 7 - December 20, 2013 Where: Pen Station Museum, Tokyo 2-6-21 Kyobashi, Chuo-ku, Tokyo, Japan PILOT CORPORATION and Yoshiko Otsuka Fine Art International, Tokyo are happy to present "HIROYUKI DOI Pen & Art" at Pen Station Museum, Tokyo. This is the first-ever, public solo presentation of Circle drawings on Washi Paper by Japanese self-taught artist Hiroyuki Doi in Japan. The largest work, Doi ever created, is displayed here for the first time. Pen Station Museum, Tokyo is located on the second floor of PILOT CORPORATION’s headquarters in Tokyo. Address: 2-6-21 Kyobashi, Chuo-ku, Tokyo, Japan. Monday-Friday 9:30 - 17:00, Saturday 11:00 - 17:00 Closed on Sundays and National holidays. Open on November 4, Monday, 9:30 - 17:00 Admission Free This exhibition has been supported by Kyodo News, in association with the American Folk Art Museum, New York, Ozu Washi, Tokyo, The Museum of Everything, London and Ricco/Maresca Gallery, New York. Hiroyuki Doi has been drawing each circle very carefully thinking of people who lost their lives on March 11, 2011 when the big earthquake hit Japan. What artists can do? Doi believes that artists should express the facts by their art work. His word is very simple, Circle, but expresses quite a lot. |
